The Montgomery Endoscopy Center was established in 1987.
The Montgomery Endoscopy Center is a state-of-the-art facility completely equipped for the performance of endoscopic inspection of the gastrointestinal tract and first to open in Maryland and was one of the first such facilities available nationwide.
The Montgomery Endoscopy Center has been Medicare Certified since its inception and has been accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc., since 1996.
Procedures commonly performed in the center include EGD (visual inspection of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum) and colonoscopy (visual inspection of the large intestine). Staff doctors are able to directly detect ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, small growths such as polyps, and even early cancers of the gastrointestinal tract. Many of these lesions can be treated through the endo scope thus avoiding major surgery.
Our practice was one of the first in the country to have an accredited Ambulatory Endoscopy Center (AEC).
We are located in the same medical park as Montgomery Gastroenterology.
Having an office based AEC allows us to perform state-of-the-art endoscopic procedures in an attractive setting at a significant cost savings to our patients.
When necessary, we also perform endoscopic procedures at Holy Cross Hospital (Silver Spring, MD) and Suburban Hospital (Bethesda, MD).
Our practice now offers wireless capsule endoscopy to diagnose disorders of the esophagus and small intestine.
